What to expect for your surgery

We are pleased to provide our patients with a highly skilled, board-certified team of surgeons, anesthesia providers and support staff in a modern surgical facility.

Please read the following information carefully before the date of your procedure so that you can make any necessary arrangements.

You will receive a call from us to go over the instructions for your surgery.

A staff member from the facility will call you to ask you questions regarding your current and past medical conditions, allergies and medications you are taking. Please be ready with your list of medication dosages and how often the medications are taken. You may be given instructions on whether you need to take those medications on the day of your procedure.

You will get another phone call the day before your surgery from Pre-op nurse to provide a check in time.

To protect patient privacy, we will only leave a message and callback number on your voicemail. Do call us back as this call is important. If we are unable to reach you, your surgery may need to be postponed.

If you are ill or not feeling well at any time or if there are significant changes to your health, please notify the surgery center. (ER or Urgent Care visits for illness prior to surgery, fevers, sore throat, cough, any infections, etc.).

Please be aware that you MUST have a responsible adult with you to drive you home and stay with you for 24 hours after your surgery, they must be with you during check in time and wait until surgery is completed. If you are using a ride-share service (UBER, LYFT or any non-medical transport you must have another person with you besides the driver of the ride-share service). If you arrive for your surgery without someone to drive you home, your surgery may need to be rescheduled.

If you see a specialist (cardiologist, pulmonologist, rheumatologist, hematologist, Anti-coagulant provider) please let them know of your planned surgery so clearances may be obtained in a timely manner.

If you are taking any anticoagulant medication (Lovenox, coumadin etc) it is very important that we get written clearance from your provider with instructions on when to stop and start your medication.

If you have CPAP for sleep apnea or inhalers to help you breathe or supplemental oxygen you must bring these with you on the day of surgery.

If labs are ordered for you, please go to your closest TRICORE to complete them sas soon as possible.

You must STOP any NSAID use (Aleve, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Celebrex, Meloxicam) 7 days before your scheduled procedure. No herbal supplements or supplements including herbal teas, vitamins, fish oil, omegas or turmeric 7 days before surgery

Refrain from eating or drinking anything after midnight the night before your surgery, including water. Do not chew mints, gum or packets. You may brush your teeth. If you were instructed to take specific medications the morning of your surgery day, you may do so with a small sip of water. Otherwise, if you eat or drink after midnight or on the morning of your surgery, your surgery may need to be rescheduled.

You may also receive antiseptic wipes with instructions from surgery center. Please stop by the surgery center after your pre-op appointment with provider.

Shower before coming in for your procedure, but do not apply any lotions, creams or perfumes. Do not wear makeup to your surgery.

Before discharge, you will receive a copy of instructions for post-operative care at home. Follow all instructions regarding diet, medications, activity level, and rest.
